Denver police believe a man shot and killed a woman and then fatally shot himself inside a car in a parking lot of a Village Inn early Friday.
The bodies of a woman in the driver’s seat and a man in the passenger’s seat remained in plain view for two hours on the 4500 block of Peoria Street.
No witnesses have come forward, said Denver police spokeswoman Virginia Lopez.
Three women got off a bus just before 7 a.m. and saw a car with a door open and the engine running. When they got closer they saw the bodies, Lopez said.
The shootings happened between 5 a.m., when the manager of the Village Inn arrived, and about 6:45 a.m., when the women spotted the car, Lopez said.
Authorities do not know the relationship between the man and the woman and did not release their identities, she said. They believe it was a murder-suicide, Lopez said. A Village Inn customer said he recognized the man as the father of a grade-school friend. The man had for years worked at a meat-cutting plant, he said. “He was a great guy,” he said.
