HIGH FIVE

1. April 4 – On opening day, Rookie shortstop Clint Barmes hits a two-out, two-run, walkoff homer off San Diego super-closer Trevor Hoffman to lift the Rockies to a 12-10 victory.

2. Sept. 24 – Sunny Kim pitches one of the best games in Coors Field history, throwing a three-hit, complete-game shutout in Colorado’s 6-0 victory over San Francisco.

3. Sept. 11 – Aaron Cook, a little more than a year after nearly dying because of blood clots in his lungs, earns a complete-game, 7-1 victory over Arizona.

4. July 9 – Behind the pitching of starter Jason Jennings and closer Brian Fuentes, the Rockies beat San Diego 1-0. It’s the first 1-0 game in Coors Field history and ends a major-league record span of 849 games without a 1-0 game at a ballpark.

5. June 28 – Rookie third baseman Garrett Atkins hits an eighth-inning grand slam, lifting the Rockies to a 6-5 victory over Houston and ace Roger Clemens.

BOTTOM FIVE

1. Aug. 13 – On a night when the Rockies play their 1,000th home game, they strand 15 baserunners – two short of the franchise high – in an 8-0 loss to Washington. It is the first time in the season, and the first time in 99 games, the Rockies are shut out at home. The offensive drought continues into the eighth inning the next day, by which time the Rockies have recorded 22 hits without scoring a run.

2. April 24 – The Rockies’ bullpen fails the team again in an 8-6 loss to the Dodgers that begins a 10-game losing streak. With the loss, Colorado’s bullpen sits at 1-7 with a 9.12 ERA.

3. July 4 – The Rockies squander numerous chances and lose 4-3 to the Dodgers in 11 innings before a fireworks-night crowd of 48,538. The Rockies leave the bases loaded in the fourth and fifth innings.

4. June 8 – Rookie pitcher Jeff Francis loses his first game at Coors Field as the White Sox crush the Rockies 15-5 to finish a three-game sweep. Instead of becoming the first Rockies starter to win his first seven decisions at Coors Field, Francis is belted for five runs on a career-high 12 hits, part of Chicago’s 22-hit attack.

5. Aug. 17 – For the second time in five days, the Rockies are whitewashed at home, losing 2-0 to the Brewers. Rockies starter Jamey Wright pitches well but is saddled with his 14th loss of the season.
