Hays, Kan. – Danny Medina passed for 353 yards and two touchdowns Saturday as Colorado School of Mines beat Fort Hays State 46-10.
Mines (3-3, 3-0 RMAC) took command early, leading 21-0 after the first quarter as Bryan Florendo scored on runs of 9 yards and 1 yard and Medina connected with Justin Gallas on a 37-yard touchdown pass.
Fort Hays (2-4, 2-2) scored on Justin Gottula’s 1-yard run early in the second quarter but trailed 33-7 at halftime.
Florendo added a 48-yard touchdown run and finished with 141 yards rushing. Gallas had 10 catches for 184 yards and two TDs.
Fort Lewis 42, Chadron St. 35
Durango – Matt Gutierrez completed 26-of-37 passes for 330 yards and four touchdowns as the Skyhawks defeated Chadron (Neb.) State for the first time since 1979.
Fort Lewis (3-2, 3-1 RMAC) led 42-7 with 49 seconds left in the third quarter before Chadron State (2-4, 2-2) scored four unanswered touchdowns.
Gutierrez completed 14 of his first 15 attempts. He also led Fort Lewis in rushing with 86 yards on 21 carries.
Carnegie Mellon 63, Colo. College 28
Colorado Springs – Travis Sivek rushed for 156 yards and four touchdowns and the Tartans’ defense made seven interceptions in a victory over the Tigers (1-3).
The loss spoiled an outstanding performance by CC freshman Justin Alexander, who returned five kickoffs for 214 yards, including a 93-yard touchdown return in the second quarter. Alexander also had 12 carries for 98 yards.
Nebraska-Kearney 61, Adams St. 24
Kearney, Neb. – Tyler McNitt caught seven passes for 126 yards and three touchdowns as the Lopers (5-1, 3-0 RMAC) defeated the Grizzlies (2-4, 2-2).
Mesa State 20, Western State 3
Grand Junction – Bobby Coy rushed for 121 yards and scored on a 38-yard run as the Mavericks (3-3, 2-1 RMAC) defeated the Mountaineers (0-6, 0-4).
