Boulder has some big bragging rights. Jessica Biel, who grew up in the Colorado hamlet with what she called her “crunchy granola” family, has been named the “Sexiest Woman Alive” by Esquire magazine.

Biel caught the acting bug in Boulder, appearing in various local musical productions starting at age 9. Then she started flying to L.A. and back every weekend with her mom – until she landed the role of Mary Camden in “7th Heaven” when she was 14.

She has been seen recently in such films as “Stealth,” “Blade: Trinity,” “Cellular” and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.”

She’s currently involved with her dad, Jon Biel, in a Colorado-based website, Make The Difference Network, that matches charities with people in need. Check it out at mtdn.net.

“There is a bit of this that’s quite flattering,” says dad of his daughter being the “Sexiest Woman Alive.” “And there’s a bit that’s kind of odd.”

Esquire proclaimed Jessica sexiest at a recent event in NYC – where she first thanked her gene pool, Dad and her mom, Kimberly Biel. Jessica was in NYC Monday for the premiere of the movie “Elizabethtown” and unavailable for comment.

So why is she the “Sexiest Woman Alive”? Esquire’s A.J. Jacobs explains, “Maybe it’s the star posture. She has the best posture I have ever seen. She could hold an apple between her shoulder blades.”

And don’t forget chopping those carrots on her stomach.

The magazine won’t be on the stands until next week, but you can visit Biel at esquire.com.

Naked truth

Vail takes it off once again in the fifth edition of the Vail UnDressed Calendar. The skin-filled date-keeper debuts Wednesday night at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort, where a few hundred people are expected to show up to see who gets naked this year. At 7 p.m., there’s a ceremony in which all 39 centerfolds go onstage and take a bow.

In 2003, the cover of the calendar featured Ryan Sutter and Trista Rehn. No one so famous this year, says organizer Tracy Kurt at the Vail Charitable Fund – but still a lotta skin.

Going, going, gone

At Thursday night’s “8 Is Enough” bachelor/bachelorette auction for nonprofit newgenesis, the bidding was frenzied. Billy Seiber went for $2,700. Travis Rodgers wasn’t even there and went for $1,000 – bought by bachelorette Jessica Anderson. Former Denver Broncos cheerleader and aspiring actress Michelle Beisner went for $3,100. Three grand plus for a date that includes dinner at Blue Sky Grill, tickets to a Nuggets game, two replica Nuggets jerseys and a ride in a Mercedes.

Beisner has to feel good. The last time she was in one of these auctions was at a thinly attended funder where she went for $150 – and the date included dinner for two at Ruth’s Chris.
