We’re Colorado proud.
The two guys starring in “Puppetry of the Penis” are both from Denver. The edgy show is running at the New Denver Civic Theatre.
Joey Dixon, 31, and Preston Levato, 28, have been touring with “Puppetry” since they won the parts in a Denver audition two years ago.
Levato is a graduate of Kent Denver, our most exclusive prep school. “Be sure to mention that in the paper,” said Levato. “I want to get back at them for all the time I was in detention.”
They say the audience always includes some local friends and family – but it’s the overserved people who present a challenge. And those bachelorette parties!
As for the future, they say they’re hoping for a USO tour.
“I don’t know what the longevity of this show is,” says Levato. “I’ll do it as long as they’re crazy enough to watch it and I’m mean enough to do it.”
“This is kind of a singular experience,” says Dixon. “I don’t know if I’m going to parlay it into a film career or anything like that.”
Cosmo Boy
Cosmopolitan magazine’s roster of America’s 50 hottest bachelors – one from each state – includes Anthony Lobello Jr. from Colorado Springs.
They all appeared with Katie Couric on “Today” Wednesday morning.
Lobello, who looks kinda goofy in his picture, is a 21-year-old student/speed skater.
Behind his back: “I hope people say that I’m kind and respectful.”
Seduce-him strategy: “Put your number into my phone and then say, ‘You’re gonna need this later.”‘
Getting griddy
Gov. Bill Owens and C&D naysayer Marc Holtzman are both in the Denver Press Club’s Gridiron Show Sunday night – but not together.
“People are going to be here who don’t like each other, that’s a given,” says organizer Bruce Goldberg.
Owens will do a little stand-up. Mayor John Hickenlooper will sing new lyrics to the tune “Don’t Fence Me In.” Others in the show include Mike Landess, Cynthia Hessin, City Council prexy Rosemary Rodriguez, Jim Benemann, Rep. Tom Tancredo, Bill Ritter and Gail Schoettler.
Tix are $65, dinner and the show, 6 p.m. at Seawell Ballroom, call 303-296-1212.
