A 23-year-old Arapahoe County man was in jail without bail Thursday on charges that he killed his 14-month-old son this week.
Steven Scott Titchenor faces charges of first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in the death of his son, Brandon Scott Titchenor, Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson said.
Paramedics were called to Titchenor’s apartment in the 1100 block of South Xenia Street on Monday, and they found the toddler unresponsive but breathing on his parents’ bed.
The child was rushed to Children’s Hospital in Denver with head injuries but died Wednesday, authorities said.
“The baby had injuries to his head, and right now it’s too early to speculate exactly how they occurred,” Robinson said. “I don’t think this was a case of a shaken baby. This was more of an assault on the child. No weapons were used.”
The boy’s mother, who was at work, placed the 911 call, the sheriff said.
