Getting your player ready...

You know what to do this weekend. Saturday night’s the night to party, so grab your superhero cape, your sexy nurse outfit, or that macabre concoction of fake blood and gore you plan to wear, and hit the town for a slew of hauntingly entertaining events. Befriend your naughty side, your dark side, or your goofy theatrical side, and pick a party (or three) to hit this year for Halloween.

Diamond Cabaret hosts ball

Now in its sixth year, Kevin Larson’s annual Victorian and Fetish Ball is back and better (read: sexier) than ever. This year he’ll step up the skin factor by holding it at the Diamond Cabaret (1222 Glenarm Place) and the newish Tabu nightclub above it. Saturday night’s ball will include every corner of the upstairs dance club and the downstairs gentleman’s club.

“We are the only fetish party that can legally have nudity, and a fetish ball with nudity is so much more of a fetish ball,” said Larson.

Even the upstairs portion of the club, which is normally open weekends as a typical dance club, will get much racier for this event. The entire space will be divided into three separate areas with different music and performances.

Look for 65 entertainers doing everything from saucy “sexorcism” strip shows to levitating fire performances. Plan to get into the game yourself if you dare, with an interactive playground featuring a sensual buffet, shadow dancing booths, and an amateur stage. This event typically attracts an attractive, older (over 30), and uninhibited crowd, and costumes can certainly be microscopic, but they are mandatory.

Tickets run $25/$50/$75 for the various levels of exclusivity. General admission tickets available at the Diamond Cabaret entrance at 7 p.m., and VIP patrons can enter through Tabu starting at 9 p.m.

Heaven and Hell

Explore your dark side this Saturday night in the hellish Lucifer’s Lounge, otherwise known as the downstairs restaurant at the Luna Hotel.

With its glowing red stone walls, the room is perfect for indulging in any number of deadly sins (lust and gluttony, anyone?) but be warned – events there tend to quickly become a quagmire around the small bar.

Of course, if you tire of suffering for your sins – or your thirst – you can head upstairs to the heavenly portion of this “Heaven and Hell” theme party. Upstairs, the Flow Lounge will be transformed into St. Peter’s Parlor” for the night, and you can ascend again to the second floor’s Cloud 9 VIP champagne lounge.

Costumes are not mandatory, but organizers are encouraging theme costumes of the vice-and-virtue variety. Costume contest categories include most evil, most heavenly, most original, sexiest, and so on, but the invitation includes handy suggestions for going beyond angel or devil costumes. And if the 2 a.m. curfew just won’t cut it, you can cough up the extra cash and stick around for the after party from 2 to 5 a.m. Sunday. Rooms at the hotel are sold out, but event tickets are available through Play Coed at 303-477-7529 ext. 103; $25 general admission/ $75 VIP, 21+, 8 p.m., 1612 Wazee St.

Leg wrestling

The annual Halloween freak show at the Andenken Gallery leans more toward a traditional costume party, with a decidedly goofy twist. A fun, young, quirky crowd gathers for a night of candy, coffee, cocktails, B-movies and a leg wrestling tournament.

Yes, leg wrestling, just like you may have indulged in at your fourth-grade sleepover parties. This year’s film is “Bride of Re-Animator,” which kicks off the party at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. Stick around for the costume contest and see who snags the $200 prize, and listen to ghoulish grooves by local band SixTwentySix. All ages, $10 tickets at the door, 2110 Market St., 303-292-3281.
