It was 1967 when domed dining cars last traveled the rails through the Royal Gorge. On Oct. 29, that changed when the operators of the Royal Gorge Route Railroad added three of the glass-topped observation cars to their fleet of passenger cars on the railroad. The new dome cars will offer lunch and dinner trips in December, providing views from the bottom of the 1,000-foot gorge. Through Dec. 31, kids 12 and younger ride free with an adult.
