Keep wines at their peak
The Pek Wine Steward is the latest innovation in wine preservation and serving-temperature management. When the cork is removed from a bottle, oxidation begins immediately as air comes into contact with the wine. The result is a distinctive, sherrylike odor and brownish tint that signal an alteration in the wine’s fragrance and flavor. Oxidation can occur within two hours of opening older and more delicate wines, whose flavor depends on their subtle bouquet and mellowed fragrance. The Pek (pronounced “peek”) Wine Steward fills wine bottles with pure Argon gas, reducing air contact with the wine surface and eliminating oxidation, and preserving wine at the peak of freshness. It’s available in two models, the Preservo ($99), and the Supremo ($199), which also cools the wine. For more information, visit peksystems.com or call 800-560-8860.
