The UCLA women’s soccer team eliminated Colorado from the second round of the NCAA Division I tournament Sunday with a 3-0 victory at Drake Stadium in Los Angeles. The Bruins, ranked No. 1 in the country, scored in the 11th minute when midfielder McCall Zerboni chipped in a shot from 12 yards.

On Saturday, Colorado (12-8-4) defeated Cal-Riverside in a shootout to advance to the second round for the second time in school history.

Top-ranked Fort Lewis advances

Senior goalkeeper Nick Clark posted his fourth shutout of the season as the Fort Lewis men’s team (19-0-1) eliminated Colorado School of Mines (13-7-4) 1-0 in the second round of the NCAA Division II soccer tournament at Dirks Field in Durango.

John Cunliffe scored the game-winner in the 20th minute when his 20-yard free kick ricocheted off the far post and into the net. No. 1-ranked Fort Lewis will play the winner of today’s second-round game between No. 5 Seattle Pacific and No. 10 California State-Dominguez Hills.

Metro State shuts out Regis

Kylee Hanavan scored a goal in the 31st minute to lead the top-ranked Metro State women’s soccer team past No. 18 Regis 1-0 in a second-round NCAA Division II tournament game at Auraria Field.

Hanavan scored late in the first half from about 25 yards over the head of Regis goalkeeper Joanna Humphreys. Kira Sharp had the assist. Metro State (23-0-0) has won 46 consecutive games overall and 49 straight at home.

Regis finished at 17-6-1. The Roadrunners face No. 2-ranked Seattle Pacific in the quarterfinals Saturday or Sunday.
