Butch Lewis of Regis Jesuit High School is one of 78 prep players nationwide selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 7 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
The players were selected by Scout.com and prep recruiting guru Tom Lemming, who said Lewis, an offensive lineman, has shown the hustle to chase running backs down from behind. “He certainly has the movement skills, aggressive nature and instincts to dominate at the next level,” Lemming said.
DU men’s lacrosse ranked No. 15
Lacrosse magazine released its 2006 preseason poll Thursday, and has the University of Denver men’s team ranked 15th. The Pioneers are looking to claim the Great Western Lacrosse League title and their first berth in the NCAA Tournament. To do that, they will have to surpass league foe Notre Dame, which is ranked No. 10 in the preseason poll. Duke is ranked No. 1. DU plays Duke on May 6 and also plays four other ranked teams: No. 3 Virginia, No. 18 North Carolina, No. 19 Maryland-Baltimore County, and No. 20 Stony Brook.
