Steelers are the real deal
There are a number of reasons why the Indianapolis Colts lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers: the Colts were rusty; Indianapolis did not adequately prepare for Pittsburgh’s surprising passing attack; the more physical Steelers were able to overpower the smaller Colts and Pittsburgh’s blitz schemes successfully exploited Peyton Manning’s one major vulnerability, his mobility. But for me, it’s simple. Pittsburgh was, and is, the better team. As a longtime Broncos fan, I am very worried and apprehensive as Sunday approaches.

Simms taken to task
Phil Simms has got to go. Simms ought to put on his cheerleader outfit. His adulation for Tom Brady and his total disdain for Jake Plummer and the Denver Broncos is not what I call unbiased reporting.
Why do we have to put up with these obnoxious announcers? Can’t we have some unbiased announcing?

Kudos for columnist
Mr. George, thank you for writing columns without an overbearing, in-your-face, attack-if-they-slip-up- once attitude. There are sports columnists I regularly ignore because of that kind of attitude. I find your columns refreshing in this day of people trying to show how smart they are.

Woe, Canada
Now that our northern neighbors have made Todd Bertuzzi an Olympian, will they empty their jails and prisons of all those convicted of assault for anything less than a career-ending injury? Call it “They’ve Suffered Enough” Day in Bertuzzi’s honor. Hey, it is what it is.
How about making Steve Moore an honorary captain since he, too, is of Italian heritage? Or will he be too busy rehabilitating?
What exactly did Bertuzzi do for his community service? Play golf and talk hockey? I bet he didn’t spend a second helping anyone with neck or spinal injuries.
The way Moore has been treated, I’m half-expecting a news release of his execution for hockey treason prior to the Games in Turin.
