The University of Colorado women’s tennis team, ranked 55th nationally, upset its second opponent in as many weeks after downing No. 37 Alabama 4-3 on Sunday at the Harvest House Millennium Hotel in Boulder.

The Buffaloes won four of six singles matches, three by freshmen and one by a sophomore. At No. 1 singles, Alabama’s Robin Stephenson, ranked 13th, defeated CU’s Jessica Vanderdys, No. 39, 6-3, 6-3. CU’s Monica Milewski downed Alabama’s Melissa Day 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

DU hockey team earns fifth straight win

The University of Denver hockey team had five players score goals Saturday night as the 13th-ranked Pioneers defeated Alaska-Anchorage 5-3 in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage.

Denver extended its road winning streak to eight games, the most in school history since the 1959-60 team won nine straight.
