John and Marcia Frew are selling a slice of Denver history.

The Hilltop home they bought nearly six years ago hosted stars such as Ethel Merman and Jimmy Durante at after-hours parties held by the original owners, Seymour and Molly Goldberg. The Goldbergs also owned Denver’s famed Zanzibar nightclub, where Merman and Durante played.

The Frews spent about $600,000 gutting and renovating the 5,300-square-foot house on a nearly half-acre lot. Now, they’re asking $1.99 million for the five-bedroom, five-bath home at 100 Dahlia St.

Mary Ann Lee of Coldwell Banker Devonshire will hold an open house at the home from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 12.
