Getting your player ready...

There is a growing number of companies out there telling us warm air is the best way to heat and dry your winter boots and keep your feet happy. They are right. But when they tell us their $120 to $200 heat-puffing boot dryer is the best way to provide that dry heat, that’s when they start blowing hot air.

We’ve found a boot dryer and heater that works better than any on the market, and ours is always less than $5. Cut two 2-foot lengths of garden hose or any similar-sized plastic hose. Jam the ends of the hoses into the lower blower of your car’s heater (there should be two blower vents in both foot wells) and the other ends of the hoses in your ski boots. Then take a drive with the heater on. Voila! The easiest, cheapest, quickest way to turn frozen boots into toasty cocoons. One downside: This is riding-by-yourownself technique for those with the funky feet and funkier boots.
