I smell a trend.
There must be something about the open stage that makes them flock like wildfire.
Be it the desire for 1/3 of that 15 minutes of fame, or just a strong need for attention, the Avenue Theater has hopped on the open stage wagon!
Performers are allotted five whole minutes (that’s 300 seconds!) of stage time to do anything you want.
If you’ve never been to one of these, the best thing about them is the variety of show. Performers are rarely trying to impress you with their American Idol tryout piece, and no one’s looking for a record deal.
Watching (or participating in) the breadth of variety is always a good time.
What: Oddville, open stage night at Avenue Theater
Where: 417 East 17th Street, 6:30 (for performers) 7:00 door
Cost: $5

Hooked on controversy.
ArgusFest will be screening a film tonight deemed “too controversial to announce.”
The film will be screened at a later date this month, but if you’d like to get in on the inside action, they’ll be showing the film at Colfax’s newest java joint.
Hooked on Colfax will be supplying the venue this evening. It’s a smaller place, so get there early, grab a spot, and a “Fabric Lab” or an “Atomic Cowboy” (all of their drinks are named after Colfax spots).
What: Secret ArgusFest film screening at Hooked on Colfax
Where: 3215 East Colfax, 7 p.m.
Cost: $5 suggested donation

You figure a bar with the first name “Patrick” is going to be your standard, run-of-the-mill Irish pub, right?
Right, but there’s nothing wrong with a good pub with billiards in the back, the usual, cozy dark wood atmosphere, and a great bartender.
What: Patrick Carroll’s
Where: 3963 Tennyson Street
