The Da Vinci Note. …

Pressure? Is Jose Theodore feeling pressure to carry the Avs in the playoffs?

Please. He’s been there, done that.

Given the history of the NHL and the visceral nature of hockey in Canada, there isn’t a more pressure-packed job in sports than tending goal in Montreal. If anything, relocating to Our Town has eased the pressure on Theodore.

“You go back to Patrick Roy and all those goalies before him, those are big shoes to fill,” said Avs winger Ian Laperriere, a Montreal native. “It’s a zoo back home. Jose had those cameras in his face every day, every morning, every night. You guys don’t realize it, but this is nothing new to him.” …

The NFL draft hasn’t arrived and already the Broncos are off to a good start. You know, what with Maurice Clarett being ineligible and all. …

Three weeks later, I’m still trying to figure out how the Bronx pulled off the deal that moved them to No. 15 from No. 29 for a couple of measly middle-rounders. The trick, of course, is to cash in on the pick. …

How high could they move up if they were to deal both of their No. 1s? No. 6 is probably feasible and, make no doubt, the Niners would love to talk. …

Two weeks after a syringe landed at his feet in San Diego, some geek in Phoenix fired a tube of toothpaste at him. So it’s official then. The fans are the only ones pitching to Barry Bonds. …

As usual, I need a little help here. Did the Nuggets charge people or pay them to sit through that scintillating performance against the Rockets? …

We all get that it was a relatively meaningless game, but Monday’s performance did drive home a couple of important points. First, the Nuggets without Carmelo Anthony in the lineup are your basic lottery team. Second, their free-throw shooting could well cost them a game in the playoffs. …

Greg Ostertag made it official Monday. He’s going to retire, presumably to become a statue in front of the Delta Center. …

Early leader in the clubhouse for Rockies stat of the year: Their starting pitchers going into Tuesday night were 5-0 on the road and 0-5 at Coors Field. …

True story. Someone asked me the other day whether Ken Griffey Jr., back on the DL with a bum knee, was a Hall of Famer. Do rabbits make little rabbits? …

Your NBA champion-in-waiting? That would be Team Chauncey. But, hey, don’t take my word for it. Check out this stat: The Pistons finished 9-1 against the Southwest Division, home of the Spurs, Mavericks and Grizzlies. …

David Moore of The Dallas Morning News on people comparing Chris Paul to Isiah Thomas: “The good news for Paul is that they mean Thomas the point guard, not the club president.” …

By the way, that sound you heard the other night? It was the changing of the guard in the NL East, where the Mets’ version of checkbook baseball has finally dislodged the Braves as the class of the division. … Chris Shelton’s unbelievable start for the Tigers has baseball historians scurrying for details of his life. So far, all we know is he was born in a manger and gets queasy at the sight of kryptonite. …

If I promise it will be my only seamhead note of the year, will you let me use this next note? Well, I’m doing it anyway, Sparky. Johnny Damon’s on-base percentage through Monday: .404. Kevin Youkilis, who replaced Damon atop the Red Sox lineup: .408. …

Amazing. Jim Leyland showed more emotion in one postgame outburst in Detroit than he displayed in an entire year with the Rockies. The only time he yelled during his stay in Our Town was when he sang Joe Cocker tunes in the LoDo karaoke bars.
