Denver police are looking for a suspect after an elderly man threw a makeshift Molotov cocktail into a downtown law firm.
The suspect then fired two shots at people who pursued him on the street, before jumping into a car and driving away.
The incident began shortly before 11 a.m, at the Appel & Lucas corporate law firm at 1917 Market Street.
The man, described as elderly, wearing a baseball cap, blue jeans, and a dark jacket, threw a paper bag into the front lobby of the firm, which is located inside the historic, brick Altman Building.
The bag, which was smoking, slid about 20 feet into the reception area.
The man then ran away, and was chased by two workers from the law firm. When he glanced back and saw them, he fired two shots, but didn’t hit anyone.
According to Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson, the incident was an isolated one, and the suspect targeted the law firm purposefully.
The Molotov cocktail smoked but did not erupt in flames. The Denver Fire Department collected the device as evidence.
