With the summer travel season poised to begin, United Airlines is flooding Colorado Safeway stores with coupons for 15 percent off certain flights.
Safeway stores got thousands of certificates that will be handed out to customers on request, said United spokeswoman Robin Urbanski.
Although United has had a partnership with Safeway for about seven years, the coupon promotion is part of the carrier’s “Denver, you mean the world to us” campaign, which began in January.
The coupons are good for new bookings on flights from Denver, Aspen, Colorado Springs, Durango, Eagle/Vail, Grand Junction, Gunnison, Hayden or Montrose to cities in the United States or Canada. The flights must be booked on United.com, and not all flights are eligible. The deal is only for Colorado residents, who must buy tickets and travel by late August.
United has carried out similar promotions in Washington, D.C., and California. In Denver, it has given out certificates at sporting events, fairs and festivals.
