Hunter success rates in Wyoming dipped slightly for elk and antelope and remained steady for deer. But the state still could claim far greater success – numbers for all three species remained considerably higher than its neighbors. The elk hunter success numbers dropped from 41 percent to 39 percent compared with 23 percent in Colorado, 21 in Idaho and 25 in Montana. For deer, Wyoming’s 65 percent easily topped Colorado’s 45 percent. Hunter success with antelope was 93 percent, best in the region.
Habitat stamp required
Anglers who purchase a one-day fishing license that will be used at a state wildlife area must purchase a wildlife habitat stamp.
The habitat stamp is required for all people 19 to 64 years of age who enter an SWA for any purpose. New in 2006, it costs $5 in addition to any license up to a total of $10. A one-day fishing license costs $9.
