Q: Dear Scott – I just read your response to our dear lesbian-sex dreamer friend. It gives me the gumption to ask you this: what would you say about dreams involving ex-boyfriends?

Let’s assume that all of these dreams are fun and leave you feeling like you once did about that person. What about dreams involving completely new people who you have recently met and who have obviously made enough of an impression to get dream time?

The dreamer in this case is in a committed relationship but dreams can seem very real. But do you think these dreams mean anything? Is it a psychic message from the other person? Or do they mean nothing? They can make one wonder.

Are we dreaming about the future or the past or the desires of the present or a spicy tamale dinner?

– Wonder-ful Dreamer

SCOTT: My Dear Wonder-ful Dreamer – Most dreams consist of boring everyday scenes we have little to no control over, but occasionally we might hit the jackpot and dream about something not so mundane such as sex with our mate, ex-mate or even someone else’s mate. OK, so the dream doesn’t necessarily have to be about sex to be interesting, I was merely using it as an example. Imagine that!

Some people believe dreams originate or relate to psychic phenomena. I on the other hand, do not. When one weighs out the idiosyncratic nature of dreams, the link to a psychic connection logically seems less probable.

But we are the best interpreters of our own dreams mostly because only we know how we feel about what’s transpired in the recent and distant past (e.g., yesterday and ten years ago).

In other words, only you know if, when and just how spicy you want that tamale dinner.
