Coors Light, $5.39 a six-pack
Summer is the time for reunions, so it’s good to get together with an old pal.
Complain all you want about Coors Light – that it’s tasteless, colorless, watery, and I’ve heard worse – but it has its place during our hot summer days.
Introduced in 1978, Coors Light – a.k.a. “the Silver Bullet” – now accounts for almost three-fourths of Coors’ annual sales.
Golden-based Coors doesn’t talk up Coors Light’s flavor or contents. The talk is about “cold” and “mountains” and, lately, the insulated label that keeps your hot hands off the beer.
So what? It’s hard to beat a Coors Light after cutting the lawn or playing softball. It’s best served very, very cold, just the way it should be on a 90-degree summer day. | Dick Kreck
