Cherry Creek High School graduate Matthew Kranich was one of two winners of the 2006 Novo Nordisk Donnelly Award. The award recognizes athletes who compete in tennis and have diabetes, and is a $5,000 scholarship to be used for educational expenses, tennis training or medical expenses.
Kranich, who intends to play tennis for the University of Denver this fall, will be recognized during ceremonies at the World TeamTennis Finals on Saturday in Newport Beach, Calif.
White named UNC women’s golf coach
Brandon White has been named the women’s golf coach for the University of Northern Colorado. White, a graduate of Greeley Central High, will be the second coach in the program’s 12-year history.
CSU golfers Pettitt, Whiting honored
Colorado State men’s golfers Nate Pettitt and Derrick Whiting were named to the GCAA Cleveland Golf All-America scholar list.
Whiting led the Rams with a 72.21 stroke average and had a 3.363 grade-point average, and Pettitt was third on the Rams with a 73.05 stroke average, with a 3.649 GPA.
