A 48-year-old elementary school teacher has been arrested on accusations he exchanged sexually explicit Internet messages with an undercover investigator posing as a 13-year-old girl.
Dana Craig Glazier, a fifth- grade teacher at Green Mountain Elementary in Lakewood, was held Thursday at the Jefferson County jail on $25,000 bail. He was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of attempted sexual exploitation of a child, according to the Jefferson County district attorney’s office.
Glazier exchanged Internet chat room messages with the investigator. He asked the person he thought was a 13-year-old to send him nude photos, according to the arrest affidavit.
“I am excited about seeing them,” Glazier wrote, according to court documents. “I want to see you all naked.”
Glazier, of Lakewood, has been a teacher with the Jefferson County school district for 10 years. He also has taught at Lumberg Elementary School.
A letter was sent home with Green Mountain students Thursday telling parents of the arrest.
“You may want to use this as an opportunity to discuss safe behavior issues with your child, especially relating to Internet use,” said the letter, signed by principal Brenda Somerville. Students should “never agree to meet anyone they have met online” and should tell parents “if they find or receive any information online that makes them feel uncomfortable.”
Glazier is scheduled to appear in court Monday. The school district has placed him on leave.
