Laughing Lab Scottish Ale, $6.99 a six-pack
Bristol Brewing is the “little brother” among Colorado’s medal-winning breweries.
The Colorado Springs brewer is expected to turn out only 6,000 barrels this year but came up a winner again with a gold medal at last month’s Great American Beer Festival.
It marked the seventh time Laughing Lab Scottish Ale took home a medal, including two golds.
“It’s my first gold as head brewer,” enthused Jason Yester, a former microbiologist who has worked at Bristol for 10 years, six of them as head brewer.
Laughing Lab is made with six kinds of malt, giving it a profile slightly on the sweet side but not cloying. It’s alcohol is a bit high at 5.0 percent (by volume).
Laughing Lab is available in six-packs and on tap along the Front Range.
