Four trick-or-treaters were assaulted in Arapahoe County on Halloween night, including a 13-year-old boy who required 8 stitches in his wounded hand.

Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson said initially that his deputies believed the boy had been stabbed. But further investigation showed he had been wounded during a struggle with a 15- or-16-year-old boy that did not involve a weapon.

The incident occurred at 7:20 p.m., in the 11600 block of East Ida Avenue, near the intersection of South Havana Street and Orchard Avenue.

“We responded pretty quickly because we had extra people out last night. But no one knew the guy,” the sheriff said. “We’re still investigating this to identify the kid, who is a white male, either 15 or 16 years old. We plan to put fliers out in the area high schools. Somebody will know who he is.”

The boy was with two friends and became separated from them briefly, Robinson said.

Another incident reported an hour later involved two teenaged girls assaulting four trick-or-treaters in the 7000 block of South Locust Circle. Robinson described the assailants as heavy-set white females, 16 or 17 years old, each with black and white face paint and wearing a red hoodie. One had blonde hair, one had dark hair.

No injuries were reported in those incidents.
