An Arapahoe County jury found Christopher Joseph Taylor guilty Monday of fatally shooting a woman and wounding her boyfriend at Aurora Mall on June 21.
Taylor, 20, was sentenced to life in prison for the charge of first-degree murder in 19-year-old Krystal Martinez’s death, a district attorney’s spokeswoman said.
A jury also found Taylor guilty of attempted first-degree murder, attempt to commit manslaughter, first-degree assault and second-degree assault, in the shooting that also wounded Martinez’s boyfriend, Kyle Boyd, 23, the spokeswoman said. A judge sentenced Taylor to an additional 64 years in prison to be served consecutively for the additional counts, she said.
Witnesses testified that Taylor and Boyd were arguing when Martinez tried pulling her boyfriend away by the arm. It appeared that Taylor was the aggressor and that Boyd took a defensive posture, witnesses told the jury.
