NEW YORK-

The Tower Suites at Wynn Las Vegas has become the first Las Vegas hotel to ever win a five-star rating from Mobil Travel Guide.

The 2007 ratings for North America also included the first hotel in Tennessee to ever earn five stars from Mobil – the Hermitage Hotel in Nashville.

Other hotels earning five stars from Mobil for the first time were the St. Regis Resort, Monarch Beach, in Dana Point, Calif.; the Mandarin Oriental, Manhattan; and the St. Regis Hotel, San Francisco.

Mobil awarded five stars to a total of 37 hotels.

The 2,714-room Wynn Las Vegas hotel-casino cost $2.7 billion to build. It opened in mid-2005.

The historic Hermitage hotel, which opened in 1910, has hosted six presidents and other celebrities, from actress Greta Garbo to gangster Al Capone.

Mobil has 750 criteria for rating hotels, including whether their undercover inspectors are greeted by a valet within 60 seconds of arriving at a hotel.
