When Arvada native Levi Samora sighted through an 18-inch gap between aspen trees on the final day of the third elk season, he knew he was looking at the biggest bull elk he’d ever seen in years of Colorado hunting. Samora fired once. The massive animal, which preliminarily scored 381 points on the Boone & Crockett scale, took one step and fell. Samora bagged his prize on public land in Grand County.
