Nine members of a family were displaced Sunday morning after a fire tore through their home in the 4900 block of Hurst Place, Denver fire Lt. Phil Champagne said.

The fire started about 8 a.m. in a back bedroom of the house.

The family got out on their own and it took Denver firefighters about 20 minutes to knock down the flames, Champagne said.

No firefighters or family members were injured.

The American Red Cross was expected to assist the family with housing.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Champagne said.
