The Rocky Mountain Rage of the Central Hockey League was led by goaltender David Guerrera, who had 39 saves en route to a 2-1 shootout victory over the Wichita Thunder at the Broomfield Event Center on Saturday.

The Rage (6-9-2) has won three straight games at home and is 3-1 in shootouts this season.

The Colorado Eagles got goals from five players in a 5-2 win over the Lubbock Cotton Kings at Lubbock Municipal Coliseum. The Eagles (12-4-0) continue to lead the CHL’s Northwest Division.

Early goal nets Air Force an AHA tie

The Air Force hockey team got a first-period goal from Josh Schaffer and held Sacred Heart to just one first-period goal to earn a 1-1 tie in an Atlantic Hockey Association game at the Cadet Ice Arena. Peter Foster made 25 saves for Air Force (8-7-3, 5-2-3 AHA). Jason Smith recorded 35 saves for Sacred Heart (9-4-4, 7-2-4).

Puckett begins King title defense with victory

Aspen’s Casey Puckett, a four-time Winter Olympian, won the opening leg of the Jeep King of the Mountain Skiing and Snowboarding World Professional Championship series Saturday at Snowbird Ski Resort in Snowbird, Utah.

Puckett, the series’ defending champion, defeated World Cup champion Enak Gavaggio of France in the semifinals and topped Jake Fiala of Frisco in the final. The ski racing competition pits racers head-to-head.
