A motorist whose Jeep broke down on U.S. Highway 36 stepped out of his car only to be struck by a truck and killed this morning, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The unidentified man stopped his Jeep Cherokee on the right side of the highway between Broomfield and Superior around 9:40 this morning.
