The Colorado 14ers of the NBA Development League got a season-high 29 points from Von Wafer and outscored the Los Angeles D-Fenders by 31 in the second half to cruise to a 113-84 victory on Sunday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Julius Hodge added 15 points in more than 24 minutes for Colorado. Hodge is on assignment after the Nuggets moved him to the D-League on Dec. 1.
Elton Brown added 17 points for Colorado (4-1). The 14ers continue to lead the Western Division and moved a game ahead of Los Angeles (5-4). It was Colorado’s second win in as many tries over Los Angeles this season.
Trailing 47-45 at intermission, Colorado started the third quarter with a 10-0 run and never again trailed. Wafer led the 14ers with 5-for-7 shooting from 3-point range.
“We picked up our intensity and focused on our defense in the second half. Our game is to push the ball every time that we can and get easy buckets in transition,” said 14ers forward Louis Amundson, who scored 12 points.
Devin Green led Los Angeles with 19 points in a losing effort.
