
Stacey A. Smith, a senior at Legacy High School in Broomfield, has a 4.03 weighted grade-point average and is taking Advanced Placement courses in literature, psychology and biology. As a junior, she completed AP calculus.
Stacey has volunteered for several years at the annual Kaiser Permanente flu clinics, doing things as varied as running vaccine to the nurses and keeping workers supplied with water and Band-Aids.
In middle school, Stacey was trained in a school-sponsored conflict resolution program for her peers. She participated in Outdoor Education in junior high, going on to train as a counselor. This year, she was a mentor to middle school students.
Stacey is a member of the National Honor Society. She has been on the Principal’s Honor Roll every semester of high school and lettered in academics three years in a row.
She has been accepted to the University of Colorado, where she plans to participate in the President’s Leadership program. Her interests are in pharmacology, psychology, medicine and nursing.
