Colorado Springs – Joe Finley and Erik Fabian scored for North Dakota in a 2-1 win over Colorado College on Saturday night as the teams split their weekend series.
Colorado College (13-8-1, 9-5-0 WCHA) defeated North Dakota (10-11-1, 6-9-1) 1-0 on Friday.
Matt Zaba made 32 saves to keep the Tigers in it Saturday, but Finley’s power-play goal with only five seconds left in the second period got past Zaba to break a 1-1 tie.
Colorado College pulled Zaba at 18:47 in the third period for an extra skater but couldn’t score.
Goaltender Philippe Lamoureux stopped 17 shots for North Dakota.
AIR FORCE 3, MERCYHURST 1 at Erie, Pa.: The Falcons scored three goals in the second period and senior goaltender Ben Worker stopped 18 shots in the first start of his career.
By sweeping the two-game series, surging Air Force improved to 11-8-3, 8-3-3 in the AHA. Mercyhurst fell to 4-14-4 and 4-10-2.
After a scoreless first period, the Falcons took advantage of five power plays in the second period. Air Force scored three goals in the second period with two coming on the power play. The Falcons opened the scoring at the 9:07 mark of the second period when Matt Charbonneau scored his first of the season on the power play. Michael Mayra took a shot from the point that was saved and Charbonneau punched the puck in from the right post.
