John Stamos wanted to get into an emergency room to prepare for his new role on the NBC series “ER.” The actor should be careful what he wishes for because his mother’s house recently burned down after a candle started a fire. She was taken to a hospital. Stamos said in the February issue of Ladies Home Journal: “Obviously, I was very concerned about her but I was also interested to see a real ER. I’d been trying to get access to one but you really can’t because of patient confidentiality. … The other problem was the staff was so caught up with my being there that they weren’t paying attention to the patients!”
Jay-Z’s condo rental at the Time Warner Center is on the block for $27 million, the New York Post reported. The rap mogul has been renting the four-bedroom, 5 1/2-bath apartment for about $40,000 a month since September 2005. Owner Michael Hirtenstein bought the 76th-floor condo for $15.7 million in December 2004. One of the reported perks is a private terrace and a telescopic view of Jay-Z’s girlfriend Beyoncé Knowles’ apartment across the park at One Beacon Court.
Charlotte Church put up a 16- foot fence on her property in the Llandaff district of Cardiff, Wales. After complaints from neighbors, Church applied for the proper planning permits, and it appears the pop opera singer will get to keep the fences, the Australian Press Association reported. Church, 20, bought the property in late 2005. She reportedly added the barricades to keep nosy Nellies from the home she shares with Welsh rugby star Gavin Henson.
Teri Hatcher refuses to fall into the celebrity trappings. Quoted by contactmusic.com, the “Desperate Housewives” star said: “I think I live a very under- the-radar life. I still live in the same house. I still drive the same car. I get up, take my daughter to school, come home, have a shower, and go to work. Then I try to be home to cook dinner. That doesn’t change, no matter what magazine cover I’m on or what country the show is on in around the world.”
