FORT COLLINS, Colo.-

A sociology professor whose body was found outside a church died from hypothermia while she was intoxicated, the coroner said Monday.

Patricia Wilkins-Wells, 59, was found partially buried in the snow outside the Foothills Unitarian-Universalist Church on Jan. 28. She had been reported missing on Jan. 2.

Larimer County coroner’s investigator Maury Miller said the death was an accident. He did not release her blood-alcohol level but said her intoxication was “acute.”

Wilkins-Wells, of Fort Collins, taught at the University of Northern Colorado. She also taught online classes for Colorado State in Fort Collins.
