What’s Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise’s favorite treat? The UK’s Daily Express writes that the couple loves to eat green tea- flavored yogurt while watching television. A source told the newspaper Holmes is trying to hook her new pal Victoria Beckham on the stuff. “She tells Victoria it is the closest thing to heaven and that she and Tom sit on the sofa getting seconds and thirds every night,” the source said. “Apparently it has a slightly sour taste but is creamy. Each tub only has 20 calories so they can splurge.”
Paul Newman’s new Westport, Conn., restaurant has been forced to close after a cracked sprinkler pipe damaged the rear dining room on Feb. 5. The Dressing Room, a 128-seat restaurant that opened in October, suffered only cosmetic damage. It’s not known how long it will be closed. Freezing weather in the Northeast apparently caused the broken pipe, firefighters called to the scene said. “Obviously we’re a little irritated and frustrated,” co-owner and chef Michel Nischan told the Associated Press. “We were really on a nice little roll there.”
Kevin Smith, the chunky director of “Clerks” and “Jersey Girl,” has dropped 22 pounds from his 230-pound frame since Jan. 2. Smith said it was simple – he just pushed himself away from the dinner table and chugged the weight- loss drink Optifast. “I’ve never been a drinker or drugger, but where I’ve historically indulged like Tony Montana (the Al Pacino character from “Scarface”) was with junk food. I never had a bowl of cereal; I’d eat a box,” Smith said on his online blog, noting he hopes to drop more than 50 pounds.
Suzanne Somers has a bunless burger named after her in Tyler’s restaurant in Palm Springs, Calif. The New York Post’s Liz Smith reported the singer, actress and infomercial pitchwoman ordered a double of the Somer Size with a lot of grilled onions, saying, “I’m hungry today!” No word yet that a chicken joint down the street had named a meal after Somers called the Thighmaster.
