Federal and state agents raided a house in the mountains behind Sedalia in Douglas County, where they found a large indoor marijuana farm along with 21 weapons and more than $300,000 in cash, authorities said Thursday.
The house, on South Hidden Valley Road, was the home of Robert Page, 56, who officials said was arrested Monday in Clarksburg, W.Va., on suspicion of drug violations.
Monday’s raid near Sedalia was based on information supplied by West Virginia authorities to the South Metro Drug Task Force and agents of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
Agents said they confiscated 407 marijuana plants and what they estimated to be more than $30,000 worth of marijuana-growing equipment from the Douglas County home. They also recovered $310,127 in cash, three vehicles, two recreational vehicles, a motorcycle and 21 firearms, of which three were semiautomatic assault weapons.
“This was no ordinary home with a gun safe,” said DEA spokesman Mike Turner. “The weapons were strategically placed throughout the house, propped up and ready to go.” Turner said the operation was run by “organized criminals interested solely in making money.”
