LITTLETON, Colo.-

A 15-year-old boy who pleaded guilty to charges of manslaughter and arson in the death of his younger sister was ordered Friday to spend at least six years in the state’s juvenile detention system.

James Meyer was accused of killing the 13-year-old girl and then setting fire to her body in the garage of their home in 2006. Authorities have not released any information about how she died.

Meyer’s sentence includes 18 years in state prison, but Arapahoe County District Judge John Wheeler said that term will be suspended if he successfully completes a six-year term in the Youth Offender Program, which includes a regimented schedule, counseling and education.
