Boulder Beer Mojo Risin’ Double IPA, $7 per 22-ounce bottle
American brewers have turbocharged an old English favorite, India pale ale.
Mojo Risin’ Double IPA, Boulder Beer’s version, carries a hefty 10 percent alcohol (by volume), thanks to loads of malt and double the amount of hops and dry hopped again. But you’ll hardly notice. It’s so nicely balanced the hops don’t reach out and strangle your taste buds.
Another in the Boulder brewer’s series of Looking Glass specialities, it’s in very limited quantities in 22-ounce bottles and a few on-tap accounts. Only 120 barrels were brewed, and it was introduced in mid-February.
