ENGLEWOOD, Colo.-
The Denver Broncos announced Saturday they had traded quarterback Jake Plummer to Tampa Bay for a conditional selection in the 2008 NFL draft.
Published reports a day before said Plummer preferred to retire than be traded to Tampa, where he might become involved in another battle for the starting spot as quarterback.
Coach Mike Shanahan replaced Plummer as the Broncos’ starter with rookie Jay Cutler.
Spokesman Patrick Smyth declined to comment on the news release announcing the trade. Plummer has not been available for comments on his plans.
