PVC is problematic
The U.S. Green Building Council recently released a study outlining the health and environmental impacts of polyvinyl chloride plastic (PVC) in building materials. The report determined that PVC, also commonly referred to as vinyl, is difficult to dispose of and contributes to dangerous quantities of dioxin and other carcinogens in the environment.
