Skiing magazine recently rated Spring Back to Vail as the top end- of-the-season celebration in ski country. And if pond skimming your way into a Kid Rock concert is your idea of a good time, well, then you probably agree. But if you’re looking to end your ski season on a slightly more soulful note, consider staying on the east side of Vail Pass and taking in the final weekend of Copper Mountain’s annual Sunsation festival. Beginning at noon Saturday with former Old & In the Way frontman Peter Rowan, the show rolls on with jam guitar maestro Steve Kimock and local favorite Jerry Joseph tag-teaming from 2-3:30 p.m. before Michael Franti and Spearhead top off the free concert with their free-flowing blend of culturally conscious reggae, hip-hop, roots and rock from 4-5:30 p.m. Rowan, Kimock and Joseph will jam after hours for a $15 fee. Sunday’s noon-6 p.m. lineup includes White Water Ramble, Lotus and the Dark Star Orchestra.
