John Dutton threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Damian Harrell with 39 seconds left and Jason Ball kicked the extra point Sunday to give the Colorado Crush a 49-48 victory over the New York Dragons in Uniondale, N.Y.

Chris Angel had three interceptions for the Crush (4-3), the last coming with 27 seconds left.

“Having been with New York in training camp earlier this season, I had a feeling that they liked to run the post in those situations with (Mike) Horacek,” Angel said, as reported on the Crush website. “Once the ball was snapped it became a foot race and then I was able to make a play on the ball.”

Dutton finished 21-of-40 for 260 yards and five touchdowns. Brad Pyatt caught eight passes for 112 yards and three TDs.

“I thought we had great effort today,” Crush coach Mike Dailey said. “I think we are still looking to play our best game, but the No. 1 thing is to try to find ways to win along the way.”

Rohan Davey finished 25-of-39 for 256 yards and four touchdowns for the Dragons (1-5). Horacek caught seven passes for 81 yards and two TDs. He also scored on a 35-yard run.

New York led 13-6 early in the second quarter, but the Crush scored 26 consecutive points to take a 32-13 lead early in the third quarter.

The Dragons responded by outscoring the Crush 28-7 during their dominant stretch to take a 41-39 lead with 9:40 remaining in the game.

The lead changed hands two more times in the game’s last five minutes before Harrell and Angel helped lift the Crush to the road victory.
