ASPEN, Colo.-
A man fell 10 feet when a chairlift on Aspen Mountain broke and tilted towards the ground because of metal fatigue, but he was not hurt.
Aspen Skiing Co. spokesman Jeff Hanle said the unidentified man skied away and did not require treatment Saturday.
Hanle said the Ruthie’s Express lift chair broke about 1 p.m. Two other people on the same chair managed to hang on until the Ski Patrol arrived.
The lift was shut down and all the other chairs examined. Hanle said he had never heard of a similar incident.
