CORTEZ, Colo.-
A pickup truck belonging to a man who authorities want to question about the shooting death of his estranged wife has been found on a rough road in northeastern Arizona.
Anita Tsosie, 48, an award-winning, third-generation Navajo weaver, was found dead in her Cortez home April 9. Police have since been seeking Herman Tsosie, 53, who they described as armed and dangerous.
Authorities have said the couple was going through divorce proceedings.
Montezuma County Undersheriff Dave Hart said Herman Tsosie’s truck was found late Sunday near Rock Point, Ariz., about 90 miles from Cortez on the Navajo Nation.
“It’s possible he dumped the vehicle and got a ride out, but I’d say it’s more likely he parked it there and walked into the mountains,” Hart said.
Police called in a tracking team from the Navajo Nation and a New Mexico State Police helicopter equipped with infrared to search the area.
