HOLLY, Colo.-

A 76-year-old woman who was injured when a tornado hit this southeastern Colorado town last month has died, probably from those injuries, the Prowers County coroner said Friday.

Delores Burns died Thursday at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Coroner Joe Giadone said. She suffered multiple injuries in the March 28 tornado.

Her son, Roy Burns, told the Rocky Mountain News she was trapped under an oven after the tornado damaged her home.

Giadone said he was notified of Burns’ death by Colorado Springs officials but hadn’t yet reviewed her medical records.

“She was a wonderful lady, very kind and giving,” Giadone said.

No autopsy was planned.

The tornado was blamed for the death of one other person, 28-year-old Rosemary Rosales, 28. She died hours after the twister struck.

The tornado destroyed or seriously damaged 48 houses. Another 114 received minor damage.
