A 16-year-old fired two shots at police officers Saturday after claiming he had a gun and wanted to hurt someone, according to Littleton police.

The 16-year-old called police dispatch around 11:30 a.m. saying he had a handgun.

Littleton police responded to the 2900 block of West Long Circle.

They began setting up around the home when at least two shots came from a window in the house, police said. One bullet struck within feet of an officer, according to a news release from police.

The teen later surrendered to police and was jailed at the Arapahoe County Foote Center.

The youth’s name was withheld by police.
