Anguel Tolev, a senior at Thornton High School, moved here from Bulgaria when he was 9 years old. At the time, he did not speak English, but now speaks three languages – English, Spanish and Bulgarian.

This year he is student body vice president, president of the National Honor Society and on the honor roll.

Anguel is in the International Baccalaureate program.

A state finalist for the 2006 Wendy’s High School Heisman award, he has received academic letters for the past three years and maintains a 3.62 grade-point average.

Anguel has participated in cross country and track and field. He is a three-time North Denver Metro Area Runner of the Year and was voted “most athletic” at Thornton High School.

In October, he was the runner-up in the Class 5A state cross country championships.

Anguel plans to attend the University of Pennsylvania to study business.
